Let me start this little story by saying that the person who is 'featured' is very happy to be blogged and gave his full permission!!
Bear with it as it goes on a bit but I have to set the scene ......
If you want to read some more stories today - head on over to Sian's blog here
Now, any of those who know my other half and me know that he is -er very organised, very tidy, has to have things in neat rows and when we go shopping, the tins have to have the labels facing the front when put away in the cupboard- clustered together - beans with beans, sweetcorn separate, tinned toms with tinned toms - no mixing up ....If he hangs washing out on the line, the socks have to be hung up in pairs all facing the same way and when shirts are ironed - the 'proper long sleeved shirts' have to be hung on metal tirangle hangers and tee shirts go on the wooden half circle hangers.........oh and the hangers must all hang over the rail the same way....with the hook away from you...You get the picture?
Now this is very handy at home obviously as he has to have the house tidy and things have to be in their place but sometimes it can get a bit wearing.
I would like to add that I am not a scruffy untidy person but I like home to be home and don't nag every second of the day for the boys to tidy up. I normally have a blitz maybe at the weekend etc etc...
When I go to work in the mornings I very often make them laugh by taking a note in that himself has left by the kettle for me - there is always a note left by the kettle from himself before he goes to work - nearly always for me but sometimes for the boys.......
'Denise ......Please pay cheque in....
'Denise......Please hang washing OUT- not indoors...
'Denise......Please get my tablets
'Denise......Please get sandwich fllings x 6 - NOT egg mayonnaise, NOT tuna crunch and watch sell by date ......
This last one was one that particularly wound me up me as I do the shopping and as I work right near Tescos am in there after work nearly every day buying stuff for dinner.I'm quite aware that the sell by dates can be better on the things at the back of the shlef rather than the front - I did take this note to work and the girls all really laughed !!
One friend of mine suggested keeping all the notes and making a scrapbook of them all - I actually might do that...
Anyway - Friday night for the first time in about a month I decided to get my crocheting out and do a bit and made a couple of squares.....
.
Hope you're still with me !!
Picture the scene , it's yesterday morning (Saturday) - I got up and was really looking forward to a day scrapping at Eclectic Keepsakes monthly crop. I haven't done any scrapping since I got back from hols mainly because of my eye so was really looking forward to a crafty day.... got tote, got photos, got stuff ready, now for tea and toast and make a sandwich....
Over to the kettle .............
Close up.....
Roughly translated says 'Please tidy up your wool and throw away anything in fridge we don't need TA.
So - after 31 years of marriage I kind of just take no notice of these notes really and don't let them wind me up BUT I would like to show you the mess of wool that he wanted tidying up that had only been there since the previous night ..............
Did it need tidying??... I don't think so !
I hope you enjoyed this slightly different story today - I thought it might make you smile - particularly Deb as she has often heard some of these stories - especially the one about Tescos not doing Banana Angel Delight - how can they possibly have three different types of Angel Delight in one flavour - Bird's,Tesco's Own, and Value - yet they don't do Banana ?? ...but that's another story!
Bless him.....

Gosh, it made me smile and gasp all at the same time! If he thinks that's a mess, the world must seem like a really messed up place a lot of the time lol
Yes I really did enjoy your different kind of story becuase it has really made me think. About lots of things. Especially my own family's tolerance of my stuff..
Thanks for the story Denise :)
Oh how I giggled, thank you for sharing and oh yes please make a mini album of them, and do you think I could borrow him just to explain to my hubby how to be tidy & clean, although I'm with you 100% on checking dates and your crochet IS super tidy :)
This really made me laugh out loud! I can just imagine it. Not just him writing it but your reaction on reading it! Bless him. He's very lucky he didn't marry me, my idea of mess would put him into meltdown!
His stories keep us so amused and some of the sayings are often heard in our house - 'is there a problem Joan?' if tea is delayed or 'pastry followed by pastry?!!' There really does need to be a layout of his notes!
This did make me laugh! My hubbie is the complete opposite and I am forever tidying up after him. However, I really don't think your wool needed tidying up lol!
So funny! When I looked at the photo, I was in disbelief that the mess, was just one in-progress project, OMG! I would be in so much trouble at your house. Thanks for sharing as I needed to laugh this morning.
this is so funny and scarily like my lil sis. she takes ur mug when uve not really finished and the same with wine glasses. my mu is even worse and she always complains my flat is untidy even when it the most tidy it could possibly be,
jo xxx
this is very funny. It really did make me chuckle. My boyfriend is very like this, very very neat. I would have flipped at that note. If he thinks that is mess he needs to come and see my desk! x
This is so funny, Denise and I found myself shaking my head at the similarities between your hubby and my sister's. My BIL is the SAME way, and she is much like you in that she laughs it off.
Super cute story, and I loved how you told it. :o)
I dread to think what he would say about my house (says I yelling for DD to get back downstairs and tidy up - including putting the spellbinders back in the packet - Grrr. I've had to threaten her with not being allowed to use the Bg Shot ever again).
Although I do like things organised in groups when they are eventually put away and DD straightens the tins on the shelves in the supermarket!
Good job he doesn't live here then cos when I'm crafting the house is an absolute tip with stuff everywere in the living room!!!
I wouldn't taken any notice of his notes, I'd chuck them in the bin and tell him if he wants the mess tidied do it himself!!! He'd drive me crazy. My hubby never says anything about the mess - probably cos he always has stuff lying around and if we are having visitors I will tidy up and then he can't find anything.
Your wool certainly didn't need tidying up!!!!!! I'd be leaving it there for a couple of weeks just to annoy him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This story is even funnier than when you told it to us yesterday! I love how laid back you are about his little notes. Can you imagine what he would make of Gracia's bedroom when she is on a roll and her 'floordrobe' is full? So glad you decide to share this tale xxx
Oh I know exactly what I would have done I would have thrown the wool all over the place and mixed all his carefully arranged tins
I'm afraid he wouldn't like my house at all....your little pile of wool is what I would call extremely tidy!!!1
Oh my! I'd have a long way to go to be that tidy.
lol! I did smile....my husband has these kind of tendencies too, more so with cleaning!! He bleaches everything and i always say that i will have written on his headstone "Rest In Bleach" xx great story xx
Hopefully your other half will appreciate how many messy crafters have commented on your funny and amazing story and realise how lucky he truly is - that you make so little mess and how tolerant of his notes you are!!!!
Hope you enjoyed the crop.
Oh I chuckled, you had me expecting much much more wool strewn wildly about the place. Bless him, indeed.
heheheee, oh this is so funny and so well told Denise! Makes us think of all the little quirks we have as humans living together!
Oh my - please don't let him get anywhere near my husband. BTW, I didn't see anything wrong with your wool, it was nice and neat.
This made me smile but makes me think about my bedroom which doubles as my craft space. Thanks for sharing x
Lol! I'm sur I'd beo tempted to make quite a yarny mess!
Rinda
You are an angel to cope with these notes! I would have burst. I do have to confess that I too peg up socks in pairs on the line LOL. But not to be neat, I just hate pairing up a basket of socks.
Am thinking your DH couldn't live with me! Great story...made me smile on this dreary morning in the NE of England!
Alison xx
Oh that is so funny - I don't think it needed tidying up at all. I agree that these notes would make a great layout.
I'm with himself on having things in rows & labels facing forward...& definitely with the system for hanging out washing...I even get having hangers all facing the same way...but...after that I'm with you!!! I can live with stuff being out of it's place for a bit & then have one big blitz...& doesn't it feel good when it's done?!!! I love the idea of scrapping all those notes...how could you not preserve all those for future generations to marvel over!!!! I do hope you got all that yarn tidied away!! LOL!!! :)
Hi Denise
Just popped over to see your blog. Loved the story..only caught half of it on Saturday.
Wow! It's a good thing you can take this all in stride. You must be a real gem and a laid back person after 31 years. When I was young I might've loved a man like himself, but now I suffer from chronic fatigue and I really could not do what I used to do even if I wanted to and somehow those things aren't as important anymore though I do like things clean and generally tidy.
