Picking my precious
This month I'm joining in with Sian's Pick Your Precious storytelling Sunday,here's mine..
I have quite a few precious little things that are really special to me. Some are things that are still tear jerking to pick up and look at,but the one thing that is something that warms my heart and makes me happy would be one of the many items I'd try to keep if we had to leave our house in a hurry is a layout of a memory.It's framed and on my lounge wall together with two other family ones..it's a memory of a very special day.The day was a very happy special one and involved going to London with my Dad and attending a very special 'Royal' Garden Party. I didn't know at the time that he wouldn't be here a few months after - so it makes it all the more precious.
It was one of the projects at a retreat I went to and the minute I started it I knew the photo I'd picked would be perfect and I loved it - so the layout is also part of the special love I have in me for playing with paper too. Sometimes everything comes together so well, the colours, the textures, the photo, the way you enjoyed the project when you made it - and most of all,the memory and happiness it evokes. Made all the more special as it's exactly a year ago yesterday that he left us. Scrapbooking really is a precious hobby - I think its lovely to put something of yourself into keeping those photos for future generations.Plain albums are nice but actually putting your time and energy into a layout is even nicer I think.
How about heading over to Sian's blog now to see what others are sharing.

Precious, indeed Denise. As well as lovely to look at. Thank you for sharing it with us today at such a time too - it feels like a privilege to be here for you today.
This is a really lovely layout and justly deserves a place of honor both in your heart and on your wall xxx
Lovely story and what a lovely LO - definitely deserving of it's place in the frame and in your 'Pick your precious' selection.
How lovely to have been able to make the page as part of your grieving. I love that photo of you and your Dad

Oh I remember your posts on that party and how thrilled you were to be attending with your Dad. I'm sure there is much love scrapped into that page - making it so precious.
Delighted it all went together so nicely, I agree putting something of yourself into the layout adds so much to the plain photograph.
What a lovely memory and beautiful LO
It is indeed a wonderful memory that you have preserved in a beautiful layout.
Not only is that layout precious, it's beautiful too and I'm not surprised that it's on your wall instead of in an album. Thank you for sharing your lovely story x
I have always loved that photo of you and your dad, Denise. And having it in that frame, preserving it and the memories you have of that special day is truly precious.
I know you must miss him terribly! I was craving my mom's voice this morning, so I know the feeling. {{{hugs}}}
That is a lovely layout and even better that it is on display!
What a beautiful tribute. I can see why it rates as a keeper.
Thanks for sharing (even if I am so late getting to it).
